Houston Astros Tickets 2020 Outlook

The Houston Astros are all the news in the MLB today, but not for the reasons they'd hope for. With their 2020 sign stealing scandal, The Astros will need to push through with everything thyeyve got to face the name calling and boos at potentially every ballpark they visit. This doesn't deny the talent on their team, with players like Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman and Justin Verlander dominating the field. They have called Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas their home since 2000. Though it has slowed in recent years, fans still get ecstatic about games with the St. Louis Cardinals, one of the Houston Astros biggest rivals. Between 1996 to 2006, one or the other team won the NL Central every year except 2003. There is no doubt the Houston Astros 2020 season will be filled with excitement, so get your Houston Astros tickets today!

The Houston Astros baseball club played its first game on April 10, 1962. Then known as the Houston Colt .45s, the team defeated the Chicago Cubs 11-2, winning their first game. In 1965, the team officially changed its name to the "Astros," moved into the Astrodome and became the first Major League Baseball team to play at an indoor stadium. Fans were able to enjoy baseball inside and away from the Texas heat.

The Astros struggled to win through the first decade and a half of their history, finishing over .500 only three times from 1962 to 1979. But following the 1979 season the Houston Astros bolstered their already strong pitching staff by signing flame-throwing pitcher Nolan Ryan. His addition immediately paid dividends for the team, helping them qualify for the playoffs for the next two consecutive years. It was as a member of the Houston Astros that Ryan was able to tie or break multiple records. He broke the record for most no-hitters thrown, became only the third pitcher to throw no-hitters in both leagues and broke the all-time strikeout record. He had his #34 retired by the Houston Astros in 1996.

The 1990's ushered in a new era for the Houston Astros as they welcomed in the "Killer B's," Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell. The two would go on to incredible success, playing their entire careers as members of the team. Biggio played 20 years for the Houston Astros and accumulated more than 3000 hits, 668 doubles (5th place all-time) and is the only player in MLB history to have 3000 hits, 600 doubles, 400 stolen bases, and 250 home runs. Bagwell is widely considered the greatest Houston Astros player ever. Winning the Most Valuable Player Award in 1994, he finished as the Houston Astros career leader in home runs, RBIs, walks, sacrifice flies and intentional walks.

The team moved into their new stadium, now named Minute Maid Park, prior to the 2000 season. The stadium features a retractable roof and, when the roof is closed, the stadium can be fully air-conditioned to help against the high temperatures in Houston during summer months. The stadium also features two of the most unique elements in baseball: a small hill against the center field wall and a flagpole that is in play at the top of that hill. Both features have been met with mixed reviews, but were intended to pay homage to older, classic ballparks. For their first half-century in Major League Baseball, the Astros played as part of the National League. But prior to the 2013 season, Houston swapped leagues and now plays in the American League West alongside the Los Angeles Angels, Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers.

The 2020 Houston Astros season is the 58th season of the franchise in Houston and 55th as the Astros. This year the Astros are defending World Series champs. The team won their first World Series title last season beating the Los Angeles Dodgers four games to three. George Springer was named World Series MVP and he has returned for the 2020 season to help his team repeat greatness. The Astros continue to succeed in the American League. Fans are thrilled to see such a positive performance and with playoffs right around the corner who knows what could happen!
