This could be the year that the Boston Celtics return to supremacy in the NBA. Last year, the Celtics were led by Kyrie Irving and expected to compete for an NBA title. The experiment failed miserably as all season long there was turmoil and disputes about playing time. With Irving leaving to become a member of the Brooklyn Nets, the Celtics went after another coveted point guard in the free agent market. Kemba Walker is now a member of the Celtics and will look to lead the team to its first title since 2008.
Boston Celtics tickets are in high demand as the fans are excited to see their new floor general.
Another key departure for the Celtics was back up point guard Terry Rozier. The Celtics may have found his replacement in the NBA Draft by selecting Carsen Edwards. They also selected Grant Williams and Tacko Fall, adding depth to their front court. Find Celtics tickets today to see them take the court at TD Garden this upcoming NBA season.
The passion and excitement from those in the stands at TD Garden who have Boston Celtics tickets is unmatched anywhere in the NBA. The Boston Celtics are the most decorated franchise in basketball, with 17 banners hanging from the rafters and more Hall of Fame players than you can count.
The Boston Celtics were originally established in 1946 as part of the Basketball Association of America before joining the National Basketball Association officially in 1949. Only a year later, the C's hired Arnold "Red" Auerbach to be their head coach and right away he made big changes to a team that had struggled in years past. The first move was the acquisition of point guard Bob Cousy, who the Celtics initially did not want but upon being acquired became indispensable. The team followed that by drafting center Bill Russell and forward Tommy Heinsohn to the team's roster, creating a trio unlike any other. Their acquisitions paid immediate dividends when the Celtics won their first title in 1957. After losing in the NBA Finals in 1958, the Boston Celtics began a run unlike any other in professional sports. Boston won the next eight titles and would win 11 in 13 seasons, a record that is unlikely to ever be matched. If you buy Celtics basketball tickets this season, you will be reminded of those championships by the banners hanging down from the rafters of TD Garden.
After Bill Russell's retirement from the Boston Celtics in 1969, the team once again looked to rebuild their winning ways. It did not take long for them to regain their dominance, winning titles in 1974 and 1976 behind players like Dave Cowens and JoJo White. But it was the 1979-80 season that brought the Celtics back to the top of the NBA after drafting Larry Bird from French Lick, IN. Along with future Hall of Fame players Robert Parish and Kevin McHale, Bird helped lead the franchise to three championships, beating the Houston Rockets twice (1981, 1986) and the Los Angeles Lakers once (1984).
The latest Celtics championship came in 2008 with the new big three of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen. Behind their mantra of "Ubuntu," an African word meaning "Unity," the C's steamrolled their way through the season, winning 66 games before fighting their way to the NBA Finals and their 17th title.
After that successful title run, the Celtics let Ray Allen go, and traded away Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce. An end of an era brought a few years of disappointment. With the signings of Kyrie Irving, Al Horford, and Gordon Hayward, the 2017-18 brought high hopes for Celtics fans. High hopes soon turned into disappointment when Hayward gruesomely broke his leg in the first game of the season. The Celtics went on to have a spectacular regular season even without Hayward. But then disappointment struck again when Kyrie Irving experienced a season ending injury. Despite all the adversity, the Celtics finished the regular season 55-27 and second place in the Eastern Conference. Without their two star players, the Cs pushed forward and made a very impressive playoff run. In the first round the Celtics faced the Milwaukee Bucks and won the series 4-3. The conference semifinals was a breeze for Boston, as they easily handle the Philadelphia 76ers, winning the series 4-1. In the conference finals the Celtics had to go head to head with Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. James proved himself the best basketball player in the world as he single handedly ended the Celtics playoff run. Boston lost the series in seven games, 4-3.
